Lake Lavon

We have been living here for over a month now and had no idea that Lake Lavon is literally right behind our house. It takes us about three minutes to get there. There is a small beach where the water is roped off and we can go out there and let the kids swim. It is wonderful. MeMe came in for the weekend so the Nash's and the Brown's decided to load us the cars and spend the day out on the lake. Rose went in the water for the first time and needless to say, it was much colder than bath water so she was not too thrilled. It was a lot of fun and the kids loved it. MeMe took Sean and Kaylee to the new Target on Saturday afternoon and then helped us out with Rose on Saturday night so that we could have a little break. It was a nice, relaxing little weekend.

Busy Day at the Brown House

Today was a busy day. Kaylee's accent wall in her room was finally completed. She absolutely loves it. Our puppy Charlie had a milestone today, he was in all day long and went to the back door and scratched at it every time he needed to use the rest room. Before today we prevented accidents by making sure that we took him out every 30 minutes while he was in the house. It is extremely exciting to watch him and know that he understands what he is suppose to be doing. It will be great piece of mind to be able to keep him inside with the family during football season this year when Clint is gone. We went on our nightly walk tonight, and Rose stayed awake the entire time. She is more alert as each day passes. She has been staying awake for two, three, and even four hours at a time. Her eyes are starting to turn a much lighter blue and she makes very interesting facial expressions just like her daddy. She is still a little colicky at night but we try to get her in every position we can to relieve gas before bedtime. We believe that she may have gotten her days and night confused because she has been up for three nights straight. Hopefully she is planning on sleeping tonight after having a four hour stretch with no sleep this evening.

The last few days have been busy. Rose is about to make the big move from her bassinet in our room to her crib in her room. She slept in her crib Thursday night and did quite well. She slept from 10pm to 4am, woke up and ate, and then slept from 5am to 8am before waking up with a big stretch and yawn. She already has a favorite blanky that she loves sleeping on, it is a green fleece Christmas blanket that we have had for a long time. Friday Clint went and picked up the pool table that he bought for "his room" in our house and him and Nash stayed up most of the night putting it together. They followed a step by step video on how to put it together that was made in the 1970's..... Fun, Fun. Saturday the guys went jet skiing on Lake Lavon. Some how they managed to almost sink the jet ski and had to drag it for almost a mile because the engine was flooded but they had a good time. Heather and I went to get some much needed pedicures later that afternoon while the guys stayed home with the babies. PaPa came in for dinner and to see the new house and everyone relaxed all evening and shot a little pool. We are looking forward to seeing MeMe next weekend and taking the kids to the beach on Lake Lavon.

Weekend with the Lays

Friday morning we packed up the car and drove out to Lindale so that Sean, Kaylee, and Rose could spend the weekend with Cade and Maddox. Uncle Scott has a new pontoon boat so we spent all day Friday at the lake at Hideaway. Everyone had so much fun. The kids all took turns jumping off the boat and tubing. Everyone swam and the adults even got a chance to have some fun on the tubes. Rose slept the entire day away. After the lake we went back to Scott and Krista's to meet Nate for dinner and let the kids wear themselves out before bedtime. The five of us left the Lay's at around nine to stay the night at MeMe's house while she is in San Antonio visiting Blake, Megan, Carter, and Addison. This morning we woke up and drove back over for Maddox's 3rd birthday party. The kids swam and had cake and ice cream before we loaded up to make the drive home. What a great couple of days!!!

Marvilous Monday

Well.... Monday the 6th of July was Rose Marie's 1 month check up. In three weeks she has grown 3 inches and gained 1lb and 1oz. She is truly getting bigger by the second. She is now 20 and 3/4 inches long. After Roses doctor's appointment we went home and started cooking dinner on the grill. Uncle Chris, Aunt Heather, and cousin Carson were back from their week long beach trip and came over for dinner. We were so excited to see them. The kids all got cute outfits from Florida, they posed for pictures in them and Charlie even managed to make it into a few of them. Kaylee played hair solon with Uncle Nash and then Kaylee and Carson took a bath together in the big bath. All in all it was a really good day and an even better night.

Fourth of July

Fourth of July weekend was great. MeMe watched Rose while Clint and I went out on the lake with Lance and Nate. We rode the jet ski all over and relaxed. Rose did really well on her first afternoon away from mommy and daddy. When we got back to MeMe's, we got Rose all dressed up like a firecracker to take her over to Scott and Krista's for a fourth of July celebration. Afterwards we all loaded up to go see fireworks at hideaway and met up with PaPa. Rose started getting cranky and restless right before the fireworks started so we decided to miss out this year and take our agitated little girl home to rest. Sunday Scott and Clint went and played golf together and Krista, Maddox, Rose, and I got a chance to have a little girl time. Maddox was fascinated on Rose. Krista and I asked her if Rose was as much fun to be around as her pretend babies at home and Maddy responded with "Yeah, but my babies don't cry". We all got a good laugh out of it. The visit ended with a nice lunch with Scott, Krista, and Maddox and then a quick last visit with PaPa. We drove from Lindale back to Mesquite to pick up Sean and Kaylee from NaNa and PaPa's house and to our surprise, Sean had lost one of his front teeth over the weekend. It is truly the cutest thing ever.

The New House

So much has happened in the past week..... We have moved into our new house and we love it. There has been so much to do but it has all been worth it. MeMe came in and helped Clint build a dog run in the back yard for Charlie. It looks absolutely wonderful, they did such a good job on it. We are so excited to have our cousin Carson so close to us now. He is very interested in Rose. Every time he sees her he says "BA-BEE", it truly is one of the cutest things ever. There is a community pool that we have been going to during the afternoons with the kids. There are two gigantic slides at it, and to our surprise both Sean and Kaylee have no problem making their way to the top and sliding down both. They are really enjoying themselves, and have transitioned to the new house much better than we could have ever expected. The kids all have their own rooms. All of this moving has seemed to tucker the whole family out, every time we turn around, someone is passed out on a couch, bed, or floor. Rose often sleeps on her new quilt that Chris' mother made for her, it is beautiful and so soft and comfortable. Rose is really starting to blossom. She is very happy in the bathtub, the warm water is one of her favorite places to be. She took her first bottle yesterday morning with no problems at all, and we took her to see her first firework show ever tonight, of course she slept through it. We want to send a very special THANK YOU out to Chris and Heather, who spent their anniversary helping us move in. MeMe came and helped with hanging, papering, cleaning, and anything else you can think of. NaNa has done all of our laundry since Rose was born and PaPa has been our go to person and handy man. We feel so blessed to have such wonderful, caring, loving family who is always there for us whenever we need them.
